Teenagers from Tendering have beaten 30 other teams to win an Air Cadet shooting competition.
The Air Cadets from 1334 (Manningtree) Squadron were competing against teams from across Norfolk & Suffolk.  For most of the team this was their first time taking part in the annual event at Bodney Camp, Thetford and RAF Marham in west Norfolk.  The team also secured second place in the leadership exercises. Cadets were tested in several areas, including Orienteering, Fieldcraft, Aircraft Recognition, a military Obstacle course and First Aid scenarios.  The shooting team coach, Flt Lt Cheeseman said how proud he was of the cadets. He said: “They put in a lot of effort considering what a disciplined sport it is and it’s great to see teenagers get real results”.  Commanding Officer Flt Lt Janet Brown who was in attendance at the event all weekend said: “The whole team deserve big praises and should feel very proud of themselves as they beat the top shooting Sqns in the Wing and had to travel to another Sqn to be able to get some practice in as they have no shooting range of their own”.  Everyone is looking forward to next year’s competition and to get a place on the team will become very competitive.
