Once a year 1334 Manningtree Squadron hold a training weekend at Hallowtrees Camp in Ipswich. The excellent facilities allow the Cadets to gain more experience over the 3 day period, although with full toilet and shower facilities it’s not quite ‘roughing it’ ! Cadets were taught general fieldcraft, teamwork and leadership with activities ranging from the ‘Spider Web’, Orienteering and Shooting. Meals were prepared from Army Ration packs and they even did the washing up too!
Cadets also enjoyed some leisure time at the Suffolk Ski Centre sliding down the slopes on toboggans and ‘Ringo’s’ but only after completing the challenging ‘High-Ropes Course’ and climbing wall.
We all had a firework show courtesy of Ipswich Scout Group and an evening warmed in the Camp fire circle. Cadets and staff took part in final event of the weekend, the night exercise, a culmination of all the learning and practice throughout the weekend.
Well done to all the Cadets who took part, we hope you all learned some valuable skills and had a good time.
Thank you also to all the Staff who gave up their free time.
